Anonymous, Henry Clay Candidad for 1844, 1844. Print and paint on board.

This small memento (about the size of a hand) was possibly the lid of a cigar case. It is a flat, rigid material, either reinforced leather or board, and appears to have been printed with the image, with some hand-painted details.

The upper caption reads, "Henry Clay. Candidad for 1844." Below the image of Henry Clay, there is a caption, "The American Statesman. Come every whig, your influence bring on this eventful day, and make the Western vallies ring with shouts for Henry Clay."
